In short, you no longer increase in height, which happens at the age of 12-14 years for females, and 14-16 in males, although there are some exceptions.

 

Interestingly, bones are the only connective tissues that undergo a continuous process called bone remodeling. Simply put, bone tissue, especially in adults, is formed by bone-building cells called osteoblasts but subsequently destroyed, in a process called bone resorption, by bone-destroying cells called osteoclasts. This constant cycle of a building- destroying- rebuilding is happening at the microscopic level, so we are not conscious of it. When bone resorption is happening, calcium stored in the bone is released.

As one becomes older, bone destruction is faster than bone building. However, other factors such as indulging in activities or exercises and lifting weights prevent bone resorption from happening.
